Anita Sarkeesian is an award-winning Canadian-American feminist media critic and blogger. Feminist Frequency is a not-for profit website that focuses on gender representation in popular culture narratives - is created and is directed by Sarkeesian. Aiming to dispel the myths that are associated with women in pop culture, she has also been working to address issues relating to targeted harassment women and others online. Sarkeesian holds a Masters in political and social thinking at York University. As a public speaker, she is highly sought after and has been a speaker at TEDxWomenXOXO and the United Nations Broadband Working Group. Feminist Frequency was launched on the 9th of September 2009 by Sarkeesian, an undergraduate student at York University who had been involved in topics concerning gender and feminism for a lengthy period of.
